I bought 4 of these and 2 of the 3 mm UV LEDs. The 5 mm ones look more white than purple, but I suspect that this is because the majority of the light it emits is out of the visible spectrum. Hooked it up to a 5V source with a 330 ohm resistor. I guess I was more looking for a deep purple than something that is actual UV. The 3mm ones are clearly purple
