Alphacool HF 14 GPU ATI NVIDIA Smart Motion Universal Copper Edition – the perfect water block for a GPU-only cooling solution.
The GPU-only cooling solution, meaning that only the processor on the graphics card is cooled with a water block, is much more affordable than a complete water block solution.
For affordable graphics cards a full cover water block is often too expensive in comparison, and also often unnecessary. The VRAM and voltage regulator modules are mostly cooled by passive heatsinks and require no water block for cooling.
Hence it is often considered the best solution to cool such graphics cards with full-cover water blocks. But is it the solution with the best price-/performance ratio?
This is different with a GPU-only solution: With the Aphacool MCX system and a GPU-only water block, the graphics card water block does not become worthless scrap metal if the graphics card is changed. It can rather be transferred universally to the new graphics card. The system is compatible with practically all graphics cards on the market and offers excellent cooling performance!
The "universal“ compatibility claim is based on the mount with a hole spacing of 53.5 to 61.5mm. With this spacing range the water block was compatible with all graphics cards we have tested so far. Despite the wide range of compatibility please always check the hole spacing on your graphics cards to avoid possible incompatibilities.

Great, Cheap Universal07-24-2012

I bought this for my Sapphire 6870. I have it running through my loop after my CPU. Air temps were 41c/70c. With this they are 34c/55c. It is a slightly large unit and will not fit into one slot, but that isn''t a problem for me. Major pro is that when I get a new card I''ll still have a good cooler for it.

Cooling my Sapphire Radeon HD 6950 (Unlocked shaders) overclocked from 800 stock to 950 MHz. Bitcoin mining takes the card to 52 C. (For reference, another one of these on air is at 80 C @ 830 MHz) This is in the loop after a core 2 duo in a very warm (30 C) room with a lot of other electronics running. The hardware it came with left me confused - the screws are way too tall. I had to use some other screws to mount it. The box it came in looked like it had been gnawed on by a puma. The unit is kind of tall; with the right 90 degree adapters it will fit in two slots. Will NOT fit in a one slot configuration. Very pleased with performance and worth it for the price. However, I will be looking for a lower profile solution for my other rigs.
