This item is made up of two large silicon rubber blocks with embedded steel plates. One is installed on each side of the hard drive and then the unit is installed in a 5.25" drive bay. The rubber blocks will then help inhibit vibrations from the hard drive reaching the case. A must buy for anyone looking to make their case quieter!

My hdd was louder than all the fans and pumps in my case combined and it wasn''t just more noise it was the awful seeking/screeching noise they sometimes make. Moved it from the 3.5" bay to the 5.25" bay with this installed and now all the horrible noises are gone. Highly recommend this but make sure you can cool the thing if you move it. It''s getting too hot in may HAF 912 case up top so I''m working up a plan to get a fan over it to help keep it at a reasonable level.
No way this was going to help the horrendous grinding and clicking of my hard drive in my HAF 912 case, which is very open for cooling. Wow was I wrong - I have to lean down near the case to hear the drive seeking. For a moment though I had failed to connect the drive after remounting!

Slapped this on my 1TB drive and slid it into an unused 5.25" bay. I didn''t screw it in because my case is lame, but it''s so snug that I didn''t even need to. Drive is definitely quiter. Super easy to install. Customer service was also very cool and accomodating.

I can barely hear the computer''s hd now, and was not the quietest drive in the world too.
