Finally a mouse pad that is perfect for both the common ball mice as well as the optical mice. One key attribute for the functionality of a mouse is the surface on which the mouse is used on. Especially optical mice require a smooth pad to function perfectly and the common mouse pads don't often fulfill that requirement. Therefore we have developed a patented pad for players and for graphic industry professionals.
After exploring the suitability of different materials, Ulti-Mat came to the conclusion that a metal pad would be best due to neat appearance and easy-care. On a 1,25 mm thick metal plate there is a Teflon® -coating* that makes the Ulti-Mat more durable and slippery than normal mouse pads. The Teflon® -coating* is also scratch resistant in normal usage and therefore the pad stays clean and usable many years.
Both players and professionals from advertising have been involved in the testing and development of the Ulti-Mat mouse pad. Several different types of mice have been used in tests. All testers have been very satisfied how their mouse is working with the new Ulti-Mat mouse pad. Ulti-Mat is the solution for most common problems caused by the mouse pad.
The mouse pad is manufactured of a Teflon® -coated* metal plate. Under the pad there is foamed plastic that prevents any echoing sounds. Due to this there are no additional and unnecessary sounds when using the mouse. The pad stays securely in one place because of the foamed plastic glued to the bottom of the pad.

I''ve owned this pad since 2005. It''s not as shiny as it was when new, but the surface is as slick as ever. I have to wash it occasionally with soap and warm water. I don''t understand how these other owners are wearing it out so quickly. I game 6 to 8 hrs a day and have no wear marks like they speak of.
I highly recommend this pad.
Decent pad.... poor customer service

Not a bad mat... but as others have said, the teflon surface wears off after a while. I have a roughly 1.5"-2" round patch near the center of my mat where the teflon coating is noticably wearing down, and maybe 1" of that is worn down to where the steel can be seen shining through. I got a new mouse with a better sensor (Logitech Performance Mouse MX), and when i was using the Add-N-Slide teflon feet, whenever the mouse got over that patch, it wouldn''t be able to track. E-mailed their customer service.... told them about it.... they asked me to send them pictures, so i did.... they said that they''d ship out a replacement..... and that was a couple months ago, still have yet to see any sign of a replacement. Needless to say.... i''m not using teflon feet, and i''m probably going to be buying a different mat soon-ish.
Teflon coating wears off!!

This is an excellent product, EXCEPT for the fact that the teflon coating wears out in patches!! There are two distinct half-moon shaped areas on the surface of the pad from my mouse (Logitech G9x). Normally, if it was just discoloration I would not care. However, it has actually worn through and you can feel how it has cut down through the teflon. Pretty poor quality coating.
Best mat you can buy!

It''s just like the description says: a peice of aluminum with a VERY slick teflon coating on it. I don''t know what the guys problem is who says it''s the worst....because clearly it''s not. Pair this mat with the Hyperglide feet for your mouse and you have THE BEST combination you can possibly have.
Waste of money!

I purchased a Ulti-mat a few months ago to replace my aging Razer ExactMat. I read many great reviews and decided it was the best pad to get, and at first I was impressed. But it didn''t take long for the pad to show signs of wear. Within the first month it looked like crap with scratches all over it. Now, keep in mind I was using a Logitech gaming mouse with mouse skates and had the pad sitting in a drawer so it never was abused or had items other than a mouse sitting on it.
I have now had the pad for about 6 months and in the center where it receives the most wear the Teflon coating has actually worn so thin you can see the metal underneath. And around that area the pad is gummy as the Teflon wears off.
My previous mouse pad lasted me 3 years, this one didn''t even make it 1/3 of that time. Yeah, its nice and gets great reviews because it starts out nice, but is not durable at all. If you don''t care about throwing it out in 6 months then this is a decent mat, but if you are a heavy gamer or want a mouse pad that lasts longer look elsewhere.
