The 9700 is a very good cooler. I have it installed on a core 2 6600. I have used Zalman products before so I opted for this cooler in my latest build. The installation is moderate for a cooler of this size. I am not particularly impressed with the hold down method, only two screws hold this thing in place, when you consider the mount that is instaled on the mob. I do like the thermal compound that is included; it has a brush applicator that allows for much better control of application than the standard artic silver 5 etc. I caution you to make sure that your cpu is flat (mine was not!), lap as necessary to get good contact, you can get a lapping kit (lag-01) here at Frozen CPU, a very worth while investment. Zalman has done a good job with the finish on their cooler making contact with a flat cpu very good. The 9700 blows away the stock cooler Intel provides. I can accomplish moderate overclocking and maintain good thermal performance. I have not tried to push this cooler hard though. Keep in mind that this is a BIG cooler, make sure you have enough space. The con''s are cost, fan control ( i would have prefered a 4 prong connector to the 3 prong provided), and size.

This is one awesome heatsink. It took some time to install(lots of screws)but once I finished this baby could''nt have looked any better. Keeps my CPU around 40 degrees celsius . AWESOME heatsink.

I installed this cooler on a Amd dual core Socket Am2 proccessor. The installation was a pain for lack of a good mounting bracket, but once installed i was able to overclock my proccessor to it''s max potential. Very quiet and efficient, even overclocked it never gets over 50 degrees C under a load. Good product
