The Thermalright HR-05 SLI/IFX Heatpipe Chipset Cooler is designed for the latest Socket 775 motherboard platforms running SLI or Crossfire video card setups. Using the new Wild Fire fan design, the HR-05/IFX features increased surface area for heat dissipation with any 80mm fan. The cooler also features an improved retention mechanism that provides a sturdier base and better motherboard compatibility. The fins also feature proprietary holes for efficient ventilation. The fins, heatpipe and nickel-plated copper base are soldered together for the best thermal conductance.
- Wild Fire design with increased surface area for dissipation from any 80mm fan (fan wire clips included)
- New and improved method of retention mechanism for more sturdy and firm mount and with better motherboard compatibility.
- Proprietary through holes on fins for efficient ventilation
- Soldered fins to copper base (nickel plated) to make effective contact

The purpose of this heat sink is to leave room for a large Video card or SLI, most SLI users have large video cards many 9 inches and 2 slots wide. You cannot face this away from the PCI slots of cards will be to long so there is only 1 way you can face it away from the CPU. Also the screws shipped with it are long with long nuts to fasten them. This basically defeats the purpose of the heatsink since those screws may stick up far enough to hit parts of your video card. I had to install 1 screw backwards and drill a hole in my mother board tray to make this work. Also the retention system is not that good it can still rotate on my chip. In the end with some modifications it worked but a couple shorter screws and smaller nuts extra in the bag would have saved so much time and made it look better.
