I bought this originally to put into my main computer to try and quiet it down but it really didn''t lower noise because it would just rev the fans up and down as they crossed the threshold that I programmed and the spin-up/spin-down was more annoying than the fans just running on high speed.
So I tossed it into my server and it works there perfectly. I just set it to run all fans (they''re silent anyways) at high speed permanently, and just sound an alarm if my temps get too high (like if a fan failed in the case) to let me know of the problem before it did any damage.
The tape it comes with sucks (used teflon tape), the sensors are long enough to reach throughout a case, the fan hook-ups were just as long. All in all, if it''s going into a computer that actually generates a lot of heat, get a manual fan controller. If it''s going in a server as a warning system, then this works fine.
