While I think the megahalem is better, this cooler is very good, I have it setup on my phenom II 940 and its OCd to 3.5ghz and only hits 49C, course I lapped mine and it IMPROVED my temps, dunno if this''ll be the same for everyone, but for me lapping my Ultra 120 improved my max temp by lowering it 6C and my idle by 3C. Note I took lots of time lapping this, went from 400 all the way up to 2500 grit. Took almost 3 hours.
WOW!!! I Stand WAY Corrected!!!

In my first review of this, I trashed it because the base was out of flat...which it was...way out actually. After an elightening conversation with Thermalright (don''t ask for the number), I was anxious to either verify or debunk what I was told, so I installed this bad boy tonight on a QX6700 on an oldish ASUS P5W DH Dlx. It fit quite easily in my LL PC-60 Plus(B). Prior to this, I was using a Zalman CNPS9500AT which I had bought with the board along with the original Core2Duo E6700. That worked fine for that CPU, but then came a Q6700 and finally this QX6700. As you would expect, my O/C headroom was severely limited by the 9500. With the QX6700 and the 9500, I could only hit 3.25 reliably with idle temps in the mid 40''s and prime95 temps in the low-mid 80''s. Any more voltage and the pime95 temps were north of 85. Not good.
Now comes this True Black Ultra 120 (in 775 trim), and I can easily run 3.60ghz at 1.5v and idle in the mid 40''s and prime95 in the low 70''s!!! That''s a HUGE improvement, to say the least. No, I''m not seeing temps "below ambient"...and niether is anyone else on air. But this thing is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING and Thermalright''s astute technical dissertation is VERIFIED...IN SPADES!!!
For all you out there that just have to lap these to dead flat, don''t. Unless there is a MAJOR micro-finish issue with the base of your Thermalright, leave it alone. You''ll be glad you did.
Where''s the Quality Assurance???

Nice packaging. Excellent accessories. Looks great. The mating surface of the block was WAY out of flat. So much so that no hand lapping kit known to man would help it. I''d have to run this across a surface grinder to fix the bow (.015"-.030" side to side). No way did anybody look at this before it was packed. No excuse. I don''t care how good these things are when they are right, they are simply junk when they are wrong like this. Now, I''ve seen a couple of reviews of the Ultra 120 Extreme version where the reviewer gave it 4 or 5 stars, while stating that they had to spend a half a day lapping the surface to get it right. C''mon guys! I have two things to say about this. Just because someone is marketing lapping kits doesn''t mean that you should spend half a day using one. You should have better things to do with your time...if you don''t, get a life. Lastly, if you continue to fix this garbage instead of sending them back where they belong, Thermalright will continue to ship s**t.
Absolutely fantastic!

This keeps my CPU at BELOW ambient temperatures when idle. I haven''t seen my CPU hit anything above 23 C since I installed this cooler. I do have two concerns, however.
The first is that bracket does not seem to hold the cooler on as securely as it should. After installing this, I was able to slide it around on top of the CPU. It took about 30 minutes of careful measuring to get it in the exact center. I hope that allowing my CPU to burn in with my case in a vertical orientation won''t cause it to slide.
Finally, this thing is HEAVY. I''m fairly confident my EVGA X58 LE can support the weight of this cooler, but I am VERY gentle about setting the case down for fear of inertia to cause it to rip out of the motherboard.
Other than these two concerns, installation was a breeze. I definitely recommend buying the extra fan holder. The provided fan clips would not hold the Noiseblocker NB-Multiframe M12-S2 that I ordered with this. The extra plastic fan holder made putting the fan on a breeze. It looks like it''s made of cheap plastic, but it works better than those shaky wire clips.
Always a great cooler

This isn''t my first TRUE and likely won''t be my last. My only complaint was that at the time of ordering, Frozen CPU indicated that I needed to buy the additional bracket for 1366, when one was included. Still a 5 star product despite the wasted $10. Oh, and it looks great in my NZXT rogue with Asus Rampage II Gene.
