The Obsidian VGA water-block is designed for nVidia's GeForce™ reference design boards in the 8800 GT, GTS (G92) and 9800 GTX series of graphics cards. Compatibility with the different circuit board layouts between these GeForce models is provided by a unique adjustable mounting system.
The Obsidian liquid cools both GPU and onboard memory. It shares the same core CPU cooling technology as the Apogee™ GT and GTX CPU water-blocks which are recognized among the best performing water-blocks on the market and uses revised Ramcool cold plates to dissipate the heat off the memory.
Mosfet cooling is handled by passive aluminum heatsinks; specific versions are available for the 8800 (G92) GeForce series and for the 9800 GTX; the mosfet coolers are sold separately to reduce upgrade costs to the users.
A unique innovation in this design comes from adjustable standoffs providing compatibility with all nVidia® reference design boards in the 8800 GT, GTS (G92) and 9800 GTX series.
- The Obsidian utilizes the same Diamond Pin Matrix
cold plate technology as the Apogee™ GT & GTX
- The housing is CNC machined out of Delrin.
- The port threads are G 1/4" standard.
- Modified Ramcool cold plates are used to cool the onboard memory.
- The spring loaded screws are the same as used in NVIDIA's stock air cooling solutions.
Internal Structure:
The CNC machined C110 copper base plate is at the heart of Obsidian water-block cooling efficiency. Designed and optimized using Computational Fluid Dynamics, it benefits from the same Diamond Pin Matrix technology used in the Award Winning GT and GTX CPU water-blocks. In fact, we use the Apogee GT/GTX base plates with the Obsidian, thus guaranteeing the absolute best performance on the market. The Obsidian utilizes the same Diamond Pin Matrix cold plate technology as the Apogee GT & GTX. The housing is CNC machined out of Delrin.
