The Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme-1366 RT Rev. C CPU Heatsink is the ever so popular Ultra-120 eXtreme heatsink with out of the box compatibility for Intel's latest socket type, the LGA 1366 Socket. The Ultra-120 eXtreme features more heatpipes, a larger fin area and better heat dissipation than the original Ultra-120. Rev. C comes with a new retention system, slightly modified fin stack, and a reshaped base that is more suited for the i7 core chips. This particular model of the eXtreme also ships with Thermalright's new 120mm Fan Holder. This plastic holder simply slides over top of the fan and then clips right onto the heatsink.

Before you buy this make sure you have enough room, the picture is deceiving, this thing is massive. But my Thermaltake Element S case fits it fine. Also it is kind of a pain to install, but the payoff is well worth it. You can comfortably overclock a whole 1.0 GHz. Plus it is very quiet, the only fan I can hear in my case is the gfx card.
*Shipping was fast but overpriced

I bought this from FCPU before they even knew they were coming. I have a True Black on a QX6700 and can run p95 all day at 3.60Ghz (max heat test) With temps never above 71C. So, I was very excited when I heard the new i7 optimized "Rev. B" was shipping from Thermalright. I put this on my i7 920 Rev. D0, replacing a pretty capable Zalman CNPS9900LED. It was a bit tricky to get it situated on the cpu properly. Use patience and care...you will be rewarded.
With the Zal, I could only run p95 (max heat test) @ 3.60Ghz with any confidence. Core temps (Real Temp) were in the very high 80''s. Any more speed and the temps went into the 90''s...not good. After the proper installation of the new Rev. B Ultra-120 on my ASUS P6TDv2, using one Scythe "G" fan in "push", my temps @ 3.60Ghz dropped to the low-mid 70''s and I could run up to 4.20Ghz and stay below 90C running the max heat test in p95!!! That''s a pretty hefty improvement. I used the fan shroud that came with it to mount the Scythe and it''s whisper quiet at full tilt 1900rpm. This cooler works about 14C better under load than the Zalamn 9900 did, and it does it with less noise!
Motherboard clearance was a breeze and the new positive mounting bracket does a better job at keeping it where you put it. Height clearance could be an issue in some case models. Additionally, if you populate all your DIMM sockets as I do, you should check the installed clearance of the fan shroud. You may have to resort to clips. My clearance is less than 2mm, and I have to remove at least two DIMMS to make any adjustment on the fan shroud.
If you have an i7, don''t let the issues get in the way...BUY IT!!! It''s as close to water cooling performance as you can get, without the expense and hassle.
