air close to water

My Asus P6T Delux V2 loves the Prolimatech Megahalems. I have it oriented sideways (top to bottom) rather than vertical (back to front) My Gelid 120mm fan is mounted on the bottom of the cooler and blows up through it. I have 12G of ram and no problems with space. My temps are conservatively about 15 degrees (or less depending on how i have me fans set) Celsius above ambient at idle. That''s a good 5+ degrees C less than my old Zalman CPNS9500. Your i7 chip is rectangular and you want to orient this cooler so that the most number of cooling pipes cross the cores. If you do that, and maybe use just a tiny bit of extra Arctic Silver 5, you will temps that rival basic water cooling! You can''t beat that!

Best performance possible for the money. You could even spend double and still under preform. I had a corsair H50. This bested it by 10C idle and 30c load.
This thing is awesome

Under load with prime95 this thing keeps my core-i5 cooler than the stock intel heatsink idle. My only complaint is this thing is huge. I have a full tower case and i had to cut part of the side fan off to get this thing to fit.
Fits Asus P6T Deluxe V2 perfect

Shaved about 5c off idle temps so far - below my old Zalman 9500. It does not block any part of my RAM and I have all slots filled and have 12G total. I have normal size RAM blocks - no cooling fins. There is easily room for a "push pull" dual fan set-up. So far, I like this cooler a lot.
Beast.

This heatsink is a beast! Temperatures dropped from ~40-50C to ~20C. Highest i''ve seen temps hit is 23C. Normally idles for 18C.
Mounting system is awesome, although when you''re screwing in the two spring-loaded screws, the heatsink may slip and slide a lot on top of the CPU. Not a big deal though, just be careful.
Tight fit in an Antec 300 case.
Using this with AS5. Two fans, push-pull configuration expelling air towards the top of the case. Oh that''s another thing, be sure to use it in a vertical orientation. Review sites have found this is the best way to orient the heatsink, although, it might kill airflow around your DIMMs.
