I was running my stock intel fan which was running up to 100 degrees with this heatsink I don''t get above 70 with two Yate Loon 120mm x 25mm UV Reactive LED Fan - UV Blue (D12SH-124UB) on each side. Love it!

I installed this heatsink the day I switched to a new motherboard. However, unbenounced to me, after I mounted my fan onto this heatsink I forgot to plug the power in. Since I usually work with my headphones on I did not realize that this heatsink was running on nothing but indirect airflow from the case fans. This went on for at least 4 hours untill I took my headphones off and noticed the eery silence. During the 4 hours without a running fan, this heatsink was able to keep my CPU cool enough that I never noticed the failsafe clock speed drop that would''ve kick in should the processor detected overheating. Granted the weather has been getting colder lately, it still amazes me how it kept my modestly overclocked i7 920 reasonably cool on indirect airflow alone. Of course, I''m not trying to encourage you to mount this thing without a running fan, but it''s good to know that even if the fan fails this thing can still kind of hold it''s own till you can find a replacement fan. I do have one minor complaint that I had some troubles installing this onto a EVGA 760 motherboard. I had to orient it side way to get it to fit. This is really the fault of the motherboard though, thanks to the board''s oversized chipset heatsink unit.

Compare to True this thing pwns. It way lighter avoiding too much strees on ur MB, and it installs so much easier. Def. get this if u wanna push ur i5/i7 way up there. Runnin 4.4 easily on air with the Ultra Kaze 3000 120x38, get the seperate clips.

My Asus P6T Delux V2 loves the Prolimatech Megahalems. I have it oriented sideways (top to bottom) rather than vertical (back to front) My Gelid 120mm fan is mounted on the bottom of the cooler and blows up through it. I have 12G of ram and no problems with space. My temps are conservatively about 15 degrees (or less depending on how i have me fans set) Celsius above ambient at idle. That''s a good 5+ degrees C less than my old Zalman CPNS9500. Your i7 chip is rectangular and you want to orient this cooler so that the most number of cooling pipes cross the cores. If you do that, and maybe use just a tiny bit of extra Arctic Silver 5, you will temps that rival basic water cooling! You can''t beat that!
