Overall, this unit works well and looks good. The display is easy to view from any angle and although it doesn''t shut off, it doesn''t blind you in the dark. The unit holds its settings during reboots and when the power is off for extended periods. Like most bay devices of this type, there are a crap load of cables, but all are long enough to reach their destination and are easily hidden. I purchased this unit to monitor and control three 140MM case fans and for the card reader; both which I''m satisfied with.
There are a couple of caveats which prevented me from giving a 5 rating:
1. The lowest RPM setting for the fan alarm is 500 RPM. This prevented me from using the automatic fan control setting because the unit wanted to idle my 140MM fans down to 400 RPM or less causing the alarm to go off continuously. This wasn''t a big deal for me since all I wanted the unit to do is detect a fan stoppage and so I manually set my fans to 700 RPM.
2. The mode button which is used to select the fan/temperature channel to display and control is under the flip down cover. It seems stupid to me that I have to open the cover to select a fan channel; the mode button should be outside of the cover along side the fan speed buttons. Version one of this device was built that way.
