worked for me

Bought this several years ago to replace the NB fan on my Abit NF7-S. The fan has not failed yet(since it does not have one) unlike the stock cooler. Has not hurt performance. Mobo is still in use with this cooler on board. It is a little tricky to install: some small screws and nuts and tiny brackets. Very quiet. I may get another one for a Soyo board I''ve reserected from the idle bin. Can''t beat the price.
Not as good as the fan shaped Zalman northbridge cooler

I bought this AND the fan shaped blue aluminum cooler figuring to try both. But as noted in the description (which I missed) THIS cooler REQUIRES HOLES in the motherboard. My motherboard uses loops & hooks instead of holes. No "thermal epoxy" is supplied.
That said, my eyebal eval of this is: the bottom is anodized blue, not honed like the other Zalman cooler that''s only $3 more and works with hooks or holes. This one has a lot of surface area, but without actually testing it I can''t commend on how well it cools. The only way I''d buy this one again is a) if my mobo had holes, and b) if I needed a vertical design like this due to lack of space around the chip.
