Excellent CPU block

Reviewer:Wayne (24)
Instructions are fairly easy to understand and installation just as easy. Hardest thing to do is to bolt down the bracket that goes behind the mobo to the screws in the front. After that is as easy as turning your wrists to tighten the screws. Comes with multiple bracket sizes and CPU Thermal Paste. I Prefer Actic 5 to the Arctic 3 or 4 (i cant remember)it comes with but still EK is always pushing the envelope of having great products and building experience.

Price, Performance, Ease of Use

For price per performance, I wouldn''t bother with anything else. This block is compatible with nearly every cpu and keeps my i7 950 at 28C-32C idle and 44C - 52C load overclocked to 3.8. I wouldn''t trust anything else when I go for 4.2.

couldnt be happier

just built my first pc and liquid cooled it too, i used this for my CPU and i couldnt be happier. Normally under air my cpu under load would run up to 45c now it stays at 33c steady, even with two other gpu''s being cooled. I live with no A/C and its usually 80 Fahrenheit here so it will most likely be cooler in a cooled house. note- it didnt fit completely correctly on my evga p67 ftw even with all of the plastic washers and all, the back part of the cpu retention holder just stuck out to much and sorta pushed on the metal bracket. i had to create some plastic washers to give it the necessary lift to keep the bracket from bending my board.

Keeps the CPU nice and cool

I have my Core i7 920 oc to 3.9GHz 24/7. When I would stress test the CPU, the temps would get as high as 85°c after 30 minutes of prime95. Now they don''t get above 62°c. Amazing results. Not only does it run cooler, but it also allowed for more ocing! I got my cpu up to 4.2GHz totally stable.

outstanding!

i used this to replace a swiftech GTZ that had my 920 D0 at 4.6ghz and 45 celcius at idle and would hit 82 at full load, now with the EK block it idles at 34 and is at 58 under 70-80% load and will only hit 62 under full stress for 40 minutes so i would say this is a major upgrade from what i had. i run my 920 at 219 x 21 = 4.6ghz on a foxconn blood rage, i use 1.46v on the core. i run my water system using 3 x swiftech triple 120mm rads and 2 x 655 pumps with a bitspower manifold.

Impressive!

First I had the APOGEE-XTL. The backplate is poorly designed. I''ve went through 4 of them due to stripped threads. IMO don''t get it. Next the cooling was "okay" but we all want our temps lower. Taking in account that I went through a lot of headaches, frustration with stripped threads AND always had to buy new backplates was my breaking point. I have a EK fullboard for my EVGA E770 so I decided to get another EK block for the CPU. I dropped this beast on the chip and my temps dropped a good 12c and sometimes lower because the ambient (I live in Minnesota). This block is impressive and the best match for my EK fullboard IMO. When I saw the temp drop my jaw dropped lower. What a difference from the APOGEE-XTL. The installation is a breeze and effortless. Dependable assembly parts and most of all, no stripping of threads. Solid and Great quality! The workmanship is visually and physically impressive as well. I used the paste that''s included. GOOD STUFF (it also helped with the temp drop. I was using IC Diamond). The instructions are basic. I removed the top half of the block to take a peak inside. The water injector is a thin solid piece of metal. I think it''s the default one and the only one that came with the block. Putting it back together was a bit tricky however. So if your curious as I was just be aware that it may take awhile to put it back together. If you''re hesitating on whether or not you should get this, Don''t. Well worth the money so add it to your cart now! You won''t be disappointed! The temp drop alone is very impressive. I highly recommend this block.

I couldn''t ask for more. Phenom x6 at a little past 4ghz, stability tested for 4 hours and wouldn''t pass 32 deg. idle at 20 deg. Absolutely no complaints.

I love this thing

The instructions could have been better put, but I figured out how to install it without relying on them. This thing cools the cpu like no other. Took my idle temps on the i7 950 from 42-46C to 35-40C and the load temps OMG what a difference. From 80-86C to 65-73C. What more need I say.

Keeps my pii 955 nice and cool! Water flows through this thing fast! Doesn''t seem like it is restricting my flow at all! No leaks, even after changing the plat for the Pii processor, although getting the seal back in place was sorta tricky.
