gr8 success!
before i say anything else, let it be known that this case is absolutely gigantic...that being said, let me review. this was my first lian li, so i was kinda worried about the quality...worries have been killed because this case is great. the 5.25" drive covers are solid aluminum, and can be easily drilled through to implement a set of cold cathode switches. i purchased 4 120mm silenx ixtrema 14dB 72cfm fans for this case to upgrade from the stock fans. the front fan has a metal filter - very nice. since the fans i bought came with rubber mounting screws, i wanted to use them to reduce noise, but i could only use them on the side vent, and in turn could not use the little duct that slides with the fan - not a big deal because the fan is about an inch from the side vent...so the presence of a 3/4" duct isnt important. the fan near the psu bay was tricky to remove - i had to unscrew one of the vertical hdd panels to get to the screws. luckily, altho this case is gigantic, all the fan cables proved to be long enough with my aerocool coolpanel2 fan controller unit ( also very good ). the mounts for the harddrives are great - very smart to use screws rather than all those tricky slot-like things that get attached to the hdd on other cases. mounting the psu was a breeze . . although the bottom support doesnt unscrew which is annoying when you drill a huge hole in the case because then you cant get out the filings unless you have an air compressor like me. speaking of that hole, i put an evga 680i a1 mobo in with the tuniq tower 120. . too big for even this case. it wasnt wider than the case, it was taller than the mobo bay because the tuniq hangs over the edge of the mobo. also, since the tuniq is so big i cant use the cute duct below the side vent - not a big deal either. long story short, gr8 succes. |
