Zalman Design Issues
I have been building systems for over 20 years and found this case to be poorly built for the price. I purchased a quality pump and additional parts since I was cooling 3 GPU''s the chipset and CPU. I opened the case to find the original pump mounted in the bottom of the case which is directly in the way of a third PCI-E slot. The Hard Drive cage had to be modified to accept the SATA connections from the motherboard. Many SATA connectors take a 90% off the side of today’s motherboards. I don''t use an internal floppy drive so I used the drive mount as a pump platform. Later when I cleaned the radiator the internal cover did not want to line back up to the door. I believe when you machine parts they should fit. The external panels use Allen screws or thumbscrews. Some of the thumbscrews were cantered. Motherboard alignment to the rear panel was very tight. Aside from this, the case is functional and the electronics work. The Zalman GPU water blocks have thumbscrews that interfere with a second GPU water block if used. I just replaced the huge thumbscrews with tiny locking nuts. I will look to a new company for future builds. |
