Lian Li...Butchered!!!
Alright, it''s not what you think. The Lian Li PC-76 server case has dense grids through which its case fans must push air. I used a Dremel tool to cut out this grid for all the fans to provide unrestricted air flow. What a difference! Six degrees Celsius cooler! And if you do this artfully, it can actually look pretty cool (pun intended!).

Small Wonder
I bought 5 of these to replace the 80mm fans in my 3 server cases, 2 of them Lian Li PC-76. Before, the servers each sounded like vacuum cleaners, but after replacing them with these Noctua fans, all three of them running are far quieter than just one was before. How nice to be able to hear myself think! Even in a relatively warm environment (81 F), CPU and MB temps are fine, and hard drives only luke warm after hours of continuous on-time. |

Silence is Golden
I had four 92mm and one 80mm fan in my largest server case which contains 21 hard drives (video file server) and it was obnoxiously loud. After replacing all fans with Noctua fans, it''s just a whisper. Like someone else said, I had to look to see that the fans were spinning they are so quiet. Not only that, they move plenty of air...everything is nice and cool without all the noise pollution...and that''s running them at full speed! I don''t care about the color because I can''t see them. Use the rubber pegs for maximum vibration isolation and quietness. I found that small needle-nose pliers or hemostats work well for seating the fans on the pegs after manually seating them in the fan mounting holes. |

Weird Quality
Yeah, so they''ve a unique color scheme...who cares if they''re hidden in your computer case? The only negative I found were the relatively short power cords. In my Lian Li PC-76 cases, the top fan cannot plug into a motherboard case fan socked, so I am forced to use the four-pin adapter. If the cord was 10cm longer, it would reach the nearest motherboard plug. These replaced MassCool 120mm fans and they are far quieter...just a whisper. As mentioned in another review, I had to check that the fans were spinning they are so quiet, and that''s operating at full speed! |
