Great for parts that can''t be disconnected!
I thought, until I get an Ek liquid cooler, I may as well be happy with the Antec 620 I have...but I was missing the green glow that would have added to the case aesthetic.
This kit solved that problem EASY. I sleeved one of the coolant lines with this stuff. |

Tricky install, but the result is amazing
As the first reviewer I had to rate this five stars even though I would have docked it one for the instruction manual. That was the only drawback I could find for this product...namely the part about which way the arms on the retaining ring should face when installing the plastic screw retainers. I installed mine the wrong way...fortunately, a butter knife and some firm pressure popped them out, and they went back in the other way and installation went well.
This might not be an overclocker''s tool, but it is a solid introduction to liquid cooling. It mounts easily in a case in place of an existing 120mm fan, it hooks into the CPU header for power, and with my existing Aerocool FP-01 fan controller, works wonderfully. Additionally the solid copper coldplate has a little overlap over the CPU, which means I have a great place to install a thermistor for accurate thermal readings.
I may replace it if I can afford to upgrade to an EK modular cooling kit, but I would see it sold used to another buyer because it will do much good...it keeps a hot CPU cool and with far less noise! |

Runs backward but a good product anyway!
I got this fan at Fry''s to replace the existing fan on my NZXT case (it kept triggering an underspeed alarm on my fan controller). The only thing that was wierd with this product was that I expected the fan to blow air towards the spinny side (the side opposite the motor mount frame). At least the Antec fan had an arrow indicating direction of flow. However, once mounted properly, I have had quiet operation, and no underspeed alarms. On the FP-01 controller in automatic mode, this fan is whisper-quiet at no more than 1140 RPM. Plus the LED shade matches cold cathode lighting I have in place. Wish they''d put the airflow direction on the housing, but...a minor inconvenience for solid results. |

With my hardware arrangement...well placed and economical
This fan I got along with a 120mm fan of the same series. It runs quiet, draws decent air at 960 RPM (per my FP-01 fan controller) and sits right above the RAM on the mainboard...perfect placement to draw air. Quiet, decent airflow, and for a low price given what you pay for in an LED equipped fan. |

Old and effective...can''t argue with chemistry
As a metal, silver has a higher thermal conductivity than copper. I''ve used this stuff to match heatsinks to CPU''s for over a decade. It works. It works VERY well. I still keep a syringe of it in my toolkit. |

An excellent case, could be improved
The only reason I gave this case 4/5 is the top bay. You would need an OEM optical drive that fits behind the case bezel. I managed to fit my original DVD-RAM drive in there, but it sits about a centimeter further back in the case. It doesn''t prohibit function, but for someone concerned with aesthetics, it could be problematic.
However, I found the cabling slots great for moving many stray cables (power and a few SATA cables) and power/thermistor leads for the fan controller out of the way. The side intake fan is right in line with my graphics card heatsink.
Now if FrozenCPU would offer the Swiftech H20-220 Ultima cooling kit, it''d fit right on this case! |
