The NF-A12x25 is a highly optimised next-generation 120mm fan that integrates Noctua’s latest innovations in aerodynamic engineering in order to achieve an unprecedented level of quiet cooling performance. It takes state-of-the-art technologies such as the AAO (Advanced Acoustic Optimisation) frame or Flow Acceleration Channels and combines them with a record tight tip clearance of only 0.5mm, which is made possible by using the novel Sterrox liquid-crystal polymer (LCP) compound as well as a metal-reinforced motor hub and axis for ultimate precision. Following the approach of Noctua’s A-series, the NF-A12x25 is a true all-rounder that yields superb results in all types of usage, regardless of whether it’s in low-impedance, airflow-oriented applications such as case cooling, or high-impedance, pressure-demanding scenarios such as on heatsinks and watercooling radiators. The 4-pin PWM version supports fully automatic speed control via PWM fan headers and comes with a Low-Noise Adaptor to reduce the maximum speed from 2000 to 1700rpm. Topped off with exceptional running smoothness, Noctua’s reference-class SSO2 bearing and a rich bundle of accessories, the NF-A12x25 is a premium-quality product through and through. Its superior efficiency, cutting-edge construction and pioneering materials make it an elite choice for the most discerning demands.
Highly optimised P/Q curve for all applications
Unlike the award-winning NF-F12 and NF-S12A models, which are specialised solutions for specific applications, the NF-A12x25 has been conceived to be a true all-rounder with superior performance in most common configurations: Whereas the NF-F12 is optimised for maximum static pressure and the NF-S12A is optimised for maximum airflow, the pressure to airflow (P/Q) curve of the NF-A12x25 has been carefully fine-tuned in the mid-section that is critical for achieving the best results in all common applications.
As can be seen from this chart, the NF-F12 produces higher maximum static pressure (top left) and the NF-S12A produces higher maximum airflow (bottom right), but at the relevant operating points, namely the impedance curves of the three sample applications, the NF-A12x25 provides a better balance of static pressure and airflow than the other two fans. This is the cornerstone of the NF-A12x25’s superior real-world performance.

Noctua knocks it out of the park01-10-2020
These are great fans. I was using a pair of NF-F12s strapped to the stock heatsink of a Zotac 1070 ti card to replace the stock fans that were starting to whine at higher RPMs. They worked quite well. I just noticed the NF-A12x25 fans in the last month. They really reminded me of the old Nidec Servo Gentle Typhoon fans I used on a radiator on a past build years ago. I bought these on a whim after reading a few reviews. They work great. I let the card control the fan speed and the temps only hit 63C max while the fans were at 1400RPM with no objectionable noise. I had all the settings maxed at 2560x1440 at 100fps trying to stress it. The best I could get with the NF-F12s was in the high 60s at the full 1500RPM. The NF-A12x25 barely gets a workout at that speed and is much quieter even without the low noise adaptor.
