What is a lapping kit? A lapping kit is a varying set of sandpaper ranging from 400 grit to 2500 grit designed to help provide a flatter surface for your heatsink. Why should the surface be as flat as possible? Chances are, your heatsink has a decently flat surface, enough to get you by. This gives thermal paste it's power to fill the gaps to give better thermal conductivity between the heatsink and the CPU. Now imagine a mirror finish, as flat as possible surface. With this lapping kit, now you can make your heatsink have an ideally flat mirror finish surface that will provide the best possible contact with thermal paste and whatever CPU you are using.

What seperates this kit from all of the other generic kits is a full set of instructions and a sheet of 2500 grit sandpaper where as all other kits max out at 2000 grit. Help your heatsink shine!

I spent about 2 hours lapping my thermalrighht ultraa 120extreme. My temps fell from 80C and the CPU shutting down to 60C with intelTAT. Amazing! The sheets are small and I think you can only use this once but for the price it is a good kit. I used a metal heavy duty file first then really coarse sandpaper for the first hour. Then I started with this kit slowly incresing the grit. I was in a hurry so I didn''t get the smooth surface that this kit is able to do but I still got great results! So, in short take your time with this kit! The more time you spend the better performance! Love it!!!!
